The Centre for Industry Education Collaboration (CIEC) is celebrating its 34th anniversary, of creating relationships between schools and industry, enhancing science teaching and introducing school pupils to the possibility of a career in industry. One of its core activities is the Children Challenging Industry Project (CCI) where advisory teachers, funded by local industry train those in industry to deliver effective site visits, following delivery of science lessons to 9 – 11 years old pupils and also provide professional development for the teachers in each school. CIEC have worked with over 55,000 children through the CCI programme, many of them in the North East.
