A Teesside engineering business is on track to reach £3 million in turnover and double its 28-strong workforce by the end of 2020.
Industro Solutions Ltd provides a range of specialist engineering services, including design engineering, steel fabrication, installation, and asset management for both overseas and UK clients.
Successful projects to date have included refurbishing the Saltburn Cliff lift, producing a process skid for a client in Qatar, and fabricating and installing a renewable process plant in Teesside.
Founded by John Betts and Joanne Bell in 2016, Industro recently scaled up into larger premises in Middlesbrough to allow the company to increase fabrication capacity and take on more large-scale bespoke projects.
The move was supported financially by UKSE, the business-support subsidiary of Tata Steel, who have also provided two other investments to the company in the past.
An initial loan from its Regeneration Fund helped the business find its feet and supported a move into UKSE’s Innovation Centre in Redcar. The UKSE also provided a further loan in 2017 to help the business develop.
Industro hope that the new facility and expanding workforce will allow them to take on more complex and exciting projects, from initial design to completion, across a range of new sectors, including mining, renewable energy, oil and gas, process, and more.
Managing director John Betts said: “We have doubled turnover each year and are expanding services steadily, including our design engineering capability and asset inspection work.
“We have a dynamic and innovative approach to what is a traditional sector and this has helped us attract a healthy customer base.
“UKSE has been very supportive since the beginning with investments, premises and advice. We are continuing to grow and expect to see a £3 million turnover next year with around 50 staff by the end of 2020.”
Director Joanne Bell commented:
“When we started we were able to take on a number of former SSI and supply-chain workers and continue to build a strong, skilled and highly experienced team, from senior management, supervisors, platers, welders and mechanical fitters to apprentices.
“We are confident that the combination of our skills and experience in the sector means we can continue to create a successful business and are very pleased with progress to date.”
Peter Taylor, business development manager for UKSE, said:
“Industro Solutions made an impressive start and is continuing that success by expanding its services and growing its team and client list.
“It has been very rewarding for us to watch the company develop and to support it with the investments needed as it grew.”
