Read more >With a recession on the horizon, it’s more important than ever to allocate budgets effectively. Our recent report, based on data from over 100 professionals at Safety, Health and Wellbeing Live 2022, sheds light on the top concerns and views of those in the field. Here’s a sneak peek into what you’ll find inside:
1. Training: Easy to deploy, cost-effective, and measurable, training was the most commonly mentioned theme of the conference. The challenge lies in ensuring that behaviours change and standards are maintained. On-the-job training, toolbox talks, and practical applications were seen as key to success.
2. Mental Health and Wellbeing: Productivity and mental health go hand in hand. Attendees emphasised the importance of creating supportive work cultures by educating their organisation and having open communication. This leads to a greater sense of trust, improved working practices and safer staff.
3. Women’s Health and Safety: Improper PPE, lack of understanding, and ineffective processes are the biggest issues women face in the workplace. The priority here is to adopt adaptable health and safety systems and processes that take into account the unique health and physical challenges women face.
4. Dust and Chromium VI (CrVI) were two threats that were consistently on the minds of health and safety professionals. Increased investment in control equipment, awareness raising exercises and a shift from reactive to proactive safety culture were seen as key to tackling these threats.
The challenges outlined in the report are not solely the responsibility of health and safety professionals. Everyone must work together to ensure a safe and productive workplace.
