Today, the business is the world’s future-focused provider of advanced engineering, employing over 2,000 people, with 800 valve technicians, 350 apprentices and customers in every corner of the globe.
The organisation’s services have evolved to provide asset wide valve and emissions management solutions, along with manufacturing and services for gas turbines and aerospace. Their vision is to propel the industrial world forward to make it stronger, more productive, and more sustainable.
Score believe becoming sustainable is a journey and reducing greenhouse emissions is the starting point for any asset. They offer a comprehensive solution designed to reduce operators’ environmental footprint through the detection and mitigation of source level emissions.
Valves are accountable for 75% of all fugitive emissions and are known to significantly increase flare and vent losses. Score utilises years of legacy knowledge and experience to mitigate issues on valves and other typical components found on any industrial site to ensure operators achieve their environmental goals.
Score is also part of D2Zero, a company focused on decarbonising traditional energy sources whilst accelerating the transition to renewable energy.
Speaking with Robin Glew, valve sales manager, he said:
“We support the drive to Net Zero and through D2Zero, which Score is part of, the company provides multiple decarbonisation and clean energy solutions under one roof.”
Score’s commitment to Net Zero goes beyond internal collaboration, they have partnered with fellow NEPIC member, asset55 to enhance their greenhouse emission reduction capabilities.
Discussing the motivation behind the partnership Robin said:
“Score has been managing and mitigating emissions for decades, finding leaks and fixing them and we recognised a couple of years ago that we could do more with the data that we were collecting. We considered several off-the-shelf digital solutions, but our unique approach of eliminating identified failures wasn’t addressed by any of the software we reviewed, which all focused solely on the environmental aspect. Given our goal to capture both elements and our existing relationship with asset55, it made sense to collaborate with them.”
Score and asset55 have developed a fully integrated software platform that allows operators to leverage their own data and analytics to drive decision making. It supports optimal ‘data-driven’ planning, maintenance execution and legislative reporting, and recently saved one company £5 million by detecting and eliminating 66kt CO2e per annum.
The solution is applicable for all industry sectors and provides onsite support to detect and eliminate emissions at the source, ensuring customers reach their sustainability goals at the earliest possible opportunity.
Robin added:
“The beauty of our solution is that it can be tailored to a customer’s operations and aligned with their goals. Net Zero is a driver for everyone in industry and it’s crucial that we align ourselves with the needs of our customers.
The benefits are significant, from improving the health and safety of individuals working on site, and complying with local regulations, to optimising production. There are many measurable outputs that are achievable through effective emissions management.”
Score has been a NEPIC member for almost three years now, and most recently hosted our monthly networking event, Cluster Connect, at their Hydrasun facility in Thornaby, which enabled the company to demonstrate their technology first hand:
“The Cluster Connect was great for us, the platform NEPIC provides for members to network and create conversations is vital to our region. During the event we were able to provide live demonstrations on our emissions elimination demo rig, so members could witness the benefits first-hand.”
Encouraging NEPIC members to engage with Score, Robin added:
“With the drive to Net Zero accelerating in the area, sites are going to have to start reporting on their emissions more and more, and this is where we can alleviate that pressure. We openly welcome members to get in touch with us and if any members missed the Cluster Connect event, we’d be happy to arrange a meeting for them to visit our facility and see the demo rig in action.”
