ABLE & Micronics: A Powerful Flow Metering Alliance

Read more >As the UK lays out ambitious targets to cut carbon and achieve #netcarbonzero in 2050, an essential aspect of the equation is being overlooked: water supply. Some of the new technologies that the United Kingdom is banking on to transform our carbon fortunes – hydrogen production and carbon capture and storage (CCS) – use considerable amounts of water. And water, in many areas of the country over the next 30 years, is likely to be in short supply.
The National Infrastructure Commission has advised that by 2050 an additional four billion litres of water will be needed each day to satisfy the increasing water demand of population, agriculture, and industry. The country is aiming to enter a new carbon-free industrial future with a water supply system designed for a previous era. The scale of the transition required, and the water required to assist that change, means that water, and how it is sourced and treated, is a concern for today, at the outset of the transition, rather than just a problem for further down the line
