Read more >Phase 2 of the Industrial Fuel Switching Competition is now open to applications and will fund up to £300,000 for feasibility studies looking into developing technologies (technology readiness level 4-7) to enable the use of a low carbon fuel for a particular industrial process or across an entire site.
For this competition, projects which facilitate switching industrial processes to electricity, biomass or hydrogen will be considered in scope. Projects focused on biomethane, synthetic methane, carbon capture, usage and storage (CCUS) or energy efficiency will be considered out of scope.
In Phase 3, demonstration studies (total budget of up to £16.5m, up to £7.5m contract for each demonstration project) are expected to be signed in September 2019. Please note that Phase 3 demonstration projects will be selected based on the feasibility studies submitted for Phase 2.
Organisations interested in Phase 2 of the competition, should email industry.innovation@beis.gov.uk by Monday 21 January 2019, 17.00. To apply to Phase 2 of the competition, organisations should complete the application forms on the BEIS website (https://www.gov.uk/guidance/funding-for-low-carbon-industry#industrial-fuel-switching-to-low-carbon-alternatives) and submit to industry.innovation@beis.gov.uk by Monday 4 February 2019, 17.00.
