Premium Power

Premium Power is an electrical engineering consultancy specialising in power systems, electrical safety and arc flash. We provide safe, reliable and cost effective solutions for the manufacturing, datacentre, utilities and renewable industries. Electrical safety and resilience is vitally important for large industrial sites to help safeguard against equipment failure, downtime and damage and risk of injury to employees. Talk to us about how we can help future proof your facility. We also offer expert advice in the renewable and grid integration sectors, as well as our renowned power quality work with large scale industrial electrical systems.

We are different to other system designers in that we focus on ongoing operation of electrical systems. For new build and construction projects, the electrical system is designed at early stage by the design company and then handed over to electrical contractors for installation and commissioning. Invariably, there may be many updates such as different equipment, different settings and load feeding arrangements. These changes may cause reliability issues with the system. Our engineers run predictive analysis using software models of electrical systems to spot issues before they become expensive problems. This is how we can assess and manage the risks associated with electrical systems and can bridge the gap between design and operations.

But even without the occurrences of outages or equipment failure, the ongoing presence of power quality issues such as harmonics could be increasing the active power usage by as much as 20%. Without addressing Power Quality on a routine basis you are leaving yourself open to system outages, equipment failure and ongoing electrical use is a lot higher than it needs to be.

How do we do it?

Over the years we have built our expertise in different technologies which allow us to develop cost effective engineered solutions for clients.
We have multi-disciplinary teams of

- Power systems engineers who model and design electrical systems.

- Power quality specialists who install monitoring systems and understand power quality problems such as harmonics, voltage sags and interruptions.

- Software engineers, who use technology to give you the information when you need it. There is no point in investing in expensive monitoring equipment and nobody analysing the data coming off it. We do this for clients – proactively setting up alerts and notification when system changes occur and analyse trends which may be an indication of some system weakness or failure point in the future.

- Electrical Health and safety consultants, who understand the particular risks associated with working on live electrical systems. We provide training, and consultancy on electrical procedures, risk assessments and compliance inspections.
