ReNew ELP are commissioning Hydro-PRT®, the UK’s first advanced plastic recycling facility at Wilton International. Hydro-PRT is a unique technology that utilises supercritical water (water under elevated pressure and temperature, above its critical point) to convert post-consumer, end-of-life, multi-layered flexible and rigid mixed plastic waste streams into circular hydrocarbons, which can be used in the manufacture of virgin-grade plastics. This circular approach is complementary to traditional mechanical recycling processes, reducing plastics being sent to incineration or landfill and supporting the elimination of exported plastic waste.
