Last Thursday, 18th June, NEPIC’s Communications and Events Manager Jane Goult visited Southbank Primary School in Middlesbrough to help present them with a cheque for £2,000 to support STEM-related activities within the school.
The money is part of a prize fund sponsored by Costain and donated by NEPIC Communities & Reputation award winner, Sembcorp Energy UK.
Sembcorp’s activities this year centred around Grangetown, reaching people and organisations who need it most, including partnering with local schools and colleges, installing solar panels and donating to voluntary organisations. They are also Patrons of The Teesside Charity, taking part in events and the annual toy appeal.
Sembcorp is also committed to creating a workplace where colleagues feel valued and supported, this year they launched a company-wide reward and recognition scheme, where colleagues can nominate another for outstanding work or positive contribution. All of this made them a clear winner for the award.
Following their win, Sembcorp nominated Southbank Primary School to receive their £2,000 prize fund.
Jane, alongside team members from Sembcorp, were given a tour of the school and met some of the students. The funding will help grow the school’s new STEM club, supporting activities, equipment, educational visits and guest speakers to bring science, technology, engineering and maths to life for pupils.
