Maritime innovation week returns for the fourth year, starting on the 18th November 2025. The three-day programme will bring together leaders from across ports, government, technology, energy and investment to discuss and define the next decade of maritime innovation. Through a focus on the skills, infrastructure and innovation across the maritime sector, the event will promote smart, sustainable and resilient ports and maritime ecosystems, grounded in real infrastructure, digital systems and energy networks. These insights will feed directly into the Port Skills Blueprint 2026-2035 and the Maritime Masterplan 2026-2035.
Day 1 will be hosted at the National 2050 Maritime Innovation Hub at the Port of Tyne, followed by two days at BT Tower in London. 100s of attendees will experience a combination of dynamic panels, interactive sessions and actionable strategies. Key topics include:
Day 1 – Port of the Future: Skills Blueprint 2026-2035.
Day 2 – Shaping the Maritime Masterplan 2026-2035
Day 3 – Innovation in Action.
Alongside key partners at Port of Tyne, BT, Hitachi Europe, Department for Transport and the Connected Places Catapult, Buttimer Engineering will act as key sponsors for the event.
Fergal Buttimer, CEO of Buttimer Engineering, said: “Buttimer Engineering is proud to partner with Port of Tyne for Maritime Innovation Week. The future of port operations lies in intelligent, sustainable innovation. By combining bespoke solutions, advanced design, and automation with real engineering expertise, we’re enabling ports to transform into cleaner, smarter, and more efficient gateways for global trade”.
