Koppers has traditionally refined Coal Tar at Port Clarence on behalf of the UK’s steel producers, producing a range of derivatives, including Naphthalene, High Carbon Pitch, Creosote etc., as well as processing Sulphuric Acid to make liquid fertilisers. The Upper Tier COMAH site at Port Clarence occupies about 40 Ha, and is equipped with a wharf (with handling facilities for liquid and solid materials), analytical laboratories, tank storage, engineering workshops, effluent plant, and a CHP unit. The site has space available for further development, and Koppers would be very interested in discussing potential opportunities with interested parties.
