OLG were delighted to host the first of a series of events which aim to be a catalyst for Collaboration and Value Creation to tackle the well documented challenges within industrial supply chains. The afternoon started with a networking lunch and an exciting announcement shared by OLG’s Managing Director, Barry Taylor.

Barry opened the event with an insight into what collaboration means to him, his own experiences and the importance of a collaborative mindset. Aligned objectives, knowledge sharing and trust are critical but what is most important for an organisation is to have a crystal-clear understanding of the value chain and where your organisation fits within.

Only a month ago, OLG announced a collaboration with Blackrow Group, and during the event, Barry announced that this strategic partnership had now been strengthened “immeasurably” with the introduction of Technica and F.E.S. “This partnership enhances our position within our sectors, adds significant value to our clients and provides engineering excellence at a scale which now surpasses £100m and 800 people”.

“We are working towards ISO44001 which will further demonstrate our aligned ambition to strengthen our positions within our supply chains and provide ambitious and prosperous workplaces for our people”.

Frank Lee, CEO of the Institute of Collaboration Working then took to the stage to share the wider benefits of collaboration and why a structured approach can be beneficial.

Collaboration can mean different things to different people. The ICW defines it as ‘Business relationships formed by committed organisations to maximise joint performance for achievement of mutual objectives and creation of additional value.’

Working with others in a collaborative relationship can be a way of starting, growing or diversifying a business, to improve performance and increase income, through existing and new markets, or with new or existing customers, suppliers, or partners. Frank then went on to share four case studies which demonstrated ways to achieve shared goals, reduce cost, time and effort collectively.

Andy Brown, Managing Director of Caladail Skills then shared his experience in building skills capacity in the Teesside region for the NetZero projects taking place in the area. To achieve a successful outcome, collaboration is a necessity across the wider supply chain.

During the event, our guests were given an opportunity to gain a deeper insight into OLG’s capabilities within engineering design, fabrication, construction & project management as well as introductions to our industry leading recruitment team.

Already, the event has received some fantastic feedback and we hope to repeat that at our next event later this year. To register your interest for the next event please email enquiries@olguk.com
