Meet Nicola, our fantastic General Manager. Nicola has been with us for many years ‘has Walton running through her’, and will be a regular face at Cluster Connect meetings.
Name: Nicola Courtley
Position: General Manager
“I started with Walton’s on 17th September 1990! I worked under Nickki and David Walton as a manager for over 27 years, then for the new owners as General Manager for the last 4 years.”
“It’s a really varied job, but that’s what I love too. I manage a lot of the overseeing of the factory itself, communicating with our customers, managing logistics to get the deliveries out to clients, ordering and management of raw materials, processing wages, parts of the internal accounts – even some IT on occasion! But I will take part in most activities when needed – including stripping boxes.”
“I absolutely love working with our customers. I really enjoy relating to them, learning what they need and making sure we can accommodate that where we can. We have clients that have been with us for decades so even though I’m not the “technical expert” I really enjoy being able to help them get what they need. We’ve got such a brilliant team here and we all work together to make sure the customers get what they want, when they need it.”
“I would love to welcome some new customers and generate more sales. We have an amazing product with Octobox, and our clients love it; so I know there’ll be others out there who will love it too. We’re working on some R&D for our drum boxes too to make them another great option for customers, so seeing that rolled out would be fantastic. Of course, alongside all that – I really want to help grow our team and bring more staff into the Walton family.”
“I live locally to the factory, so my commute is pretty short! I am married and have 3 stepchildren aged 19, 26 and 30. I love my family, my home and getting out for a good walk too!
“My husband always comments that I am like a stick of rock – snap me open and I have ‘Waltons’ running through me!”
