Read more >Evides Industriewater are world leaders in the provision of sustainable water solutions for large scale hydrogen production. Whether our clients are utilising grey, blue, or green approaches, we have acquired the experience and expertise of running large waste water treatment facilities over many decades – this makes Evides Industriewater unique in the market.
Green Hydrogen
Green hydrogen is not produced from fossil fuels. Instead, only green energy is used to make the hydrogen via technology called electrolysers. With an abundant source of green energy generated from wind turbines, wind is currently viewed as the most attractive source to power this type of technology. Other than the large quantities of power required, it is often overlooked that large quantities of demineralised water are also required. Like with power, an electrolyser will not function without a constant supply of treated water.
Electrolysers get hot!
At the Rotterdam Port, we will be responsible for supplying water to Europe’s largest electrolyser project (200MW). Generally speaking, the electrolysers and compressors used for hydrogen production must both be cooled because in these processes much of the power is converted into heat. When scaling up an electrolysis plant, water cooling becomes a cost effective solution. Question is… what to do with all that heat?
Heat Networks
Evides Industriwater also have capability to utilise waste heat within our networks. On our Sloewarmte sea port network, we take waste heat from our clients processes and then transport it to where it can be used. These use sources include other industrial processes in the same industrial cluster and even local residential housing. This has had, and continues to have, a sizeable and positive impact towards the sea port’s sustainability ambitions.
