The North East of England Process Industry Cluster (NEPIC) is a not-for-profit membership organisationthat supports the needs and interests of the process sector in the North East of England.
We focus our efforts on working closely with member companies, universities, research institutes and public bodies, to forge meaningful business relationships that allow us to identify opportunities for investment, influence and innovation, leverage additional value for the industry, facilitate connections, promote collaboration and enable growth.
We are the largest process cluster in the UK, comprising of more than 4,000 companies, which generates over £75.2 billion in turnover each year and supports more than 500,000 jobs. The Chemical Industries Association estimates that the process industry in the UK exports £54bn annually, and the North East accounts for around 50 per cent of this.
We have a legacy of infrastructure and world-class facilities and organisations, including the likes of Wilton International, Teesport, Port of Tyne, CPI, NETPark, Teesside University’s Net Zero Industry Innovation Centre and Newcastle Helix.
We are proud of our industrial heritage which spans over 300 years, home to sectors including: bioresources and renewables, fine and speciality, biotechnology, polymers, pharmaceuticals, petrochemicals and engineering.
Our industry is at the forefront of Net Zero, we are committed to creating the world’s first Net Zero industrial cluster by 2040. Along with the Tees Valley Combined Authority and bp, we have developed the ‘Tees Valley Cluster Plan’ which is a roadmap to help achieve our 2040 goal.
