CPI
CPI develops products, processes, services and businesses in the process and manufacturing sectors, and brings jobs and prosperity to North East England. It was brought together in April 2008 by the merger of two UK government-backed Centres of Excellence, both formed in 2004 - the Centre for Process Innovation (CPI) on Teesside and the Centre for Nanotechnology, Microtechnology and Photonics (Cenamps) in Newcastle upon Tyne.

Across its specialist technology areas, CPI delivers a unique portfolio of activities:
- Providing services to the global business community in process innovation, consultancy and research, and in the formation and management of development partnerships
- Establishing and running publicly funded agencies and projects in emerging technologies
- Forming new companies through spin-outs and joint ventures.
