Talent Attraction

NEPIC aims to help industrial members to meet the skills needs of their business now and into the future through a multi-faceted approach to talent attraction. A major skills assessment was carried out in 2007 to identify the scale of the skills gap facing the industry and a breakdown of the numbers in key roles that are needed. This skills assessment took into account the demographic of the sector and the investment plans that are in place. A copy of this assessment can be requested by clicking here.

By working in partnership with Cogent and National Skills Academy Process Industry, NEPIC has been involved in a more up to date assessment of the skills needs of the region. The changing economic situation has overtaken this and it is anticipated that a revised skills assessment will be conducted following firm signs of an upturn in the economy of the sector.

NEPIC interacts with schools, colleges and universities to provide careers information to students, and to provide information and advice to careers advisors. NEPIC also responds to enquiries from individuals to support them in making careers choices that will enable them to enter the sector, either by vocational or graduate routes. Films have been produced to show potential entrants some of the experiences of young people who have chosen to make their career in the process industry. These can be viewed by following the links to the vocational and graduate films.

NEPIC attends university Careers Fairs at key local and UK venues to attract the best possible graduate level talent into the sector. To view the programme of planned attendance at these events please see the NEPIC events Calendar.

NEPIC also supports local colleges and training providers in the delivery of apprentice training programmes to ensure that young people are aware of the opportunities that these programmes offer.
