The Process Industries of Northeast England are a dynamic and successful and are experiencing substantial growth. These are the chemistry using industries of chemicals, fine & speciality chemicals, petrochemicals, polymers and composites, pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, bioresources, biofuels and renewable energy and low carbon materials. There are more than 1400 companies in these sectors directly involved or in the supply chain of these industries within Northeast England generating £26bn of annual sales. Together they Employ 190,000 people and the sector exports £12bn each year. The ambition of NEPIC is to build on this powerful industrial base to make the North East one of the most competitive and successful region in Europe for these industries.
