Science Challenge aims to encourage Gifted and Talented students to develop a deeper continued interest in chemistry/science and its practical applications.

Members of the NEPIC organisation prepare the challenges that require pupils from Year 10 to apply their science knowledge to solve the practical problems set. The day also provides opportunities for the students to develop and enhance their team working and communication skills.

Schools enter teams of 4 students who are judged on their performance on aspect of Safety, Team Work and Success. This is an opportunity to spend extended time in a large well-equipped local university laboratory.

Judges for the event are supplied by local industry, which also gives the student the opportunity to speak with practicing chemists, chemical engineers and other scientists
