MOTIVATION

Target Group: PGCE Science students (teachers in training)

The SEU has delivered this session for the University of Durham for a few years in an attempt to share the wide variety of resources that are on offer to motivate the pupils they will be working with. The use of industry and the part it can play in science education in schools and colleges is explored.

A chemistry demonstration from an industrialist is included and the students are given the ‘recipes’ if they want it. They also have the opportunity to try out a practical set for students and to trial the two games that are available from the SEU which have been developed by schools working with local industries.
